PORTLAND, Maine --Portland City Manager Joe Gray and his wife Marie credit their solid, loving relationship over 36 years of marriage with helping them both beat cancer earlier this year.
Joe Gray was diagnosed in February as having colon cancer; Marie learned two weeks later that she had breast cancer.
It's nearly impossible to measure the likelihood of two partners in their early 60s getting cancer at the same time, but a health statistician likened it to the odds of winning a lottery.
