Where Did Essiac Come From?
It is thought that essiac was initially used by Native Americans for the purpose of treating sicknesses at a time when there was little or no cancer. It is intriguing to note that this original essiac blend was not actually created with the goal of treating cancer in mind.
Many years ago, while Rene Caisse was working as a nurse in a Canadian hospital, one of her patients gave her some of this Native American herbal blend and told Caisse that she was using it to treat her breast cancer. Rene Caisse was astounded to learn that the woman's cancer had been halted! However,this primitive version of essiac was not effective in every case; in fact, many patients died in spite of being treated with the essiac. In all fairness, many of these people had nowhere else to turn at that point, treatment-wise.
