Authentic Essiac (Part 7)

What Finally Happened

After further research by Brusch and Caisse, an oral essiac formula was developed which contained eight herbs, including the original four herbs from the old formula that was designed to be injected. Exclusive rights to the authentic essiac formula were left to Dr. Brusch in 1977 (a year prior to Rene Caisse's death), though some accounts state the year as 1978. This formula was deemed by both parties to be the most effective formula to date.

The eight herb formula Rene Caisse shared with Dr. Charles Brusch consisted of: burdock root, blessed thistle, kelp, red clover, sheep sorrel, slippery elm bark, Turkish rhubarb root, and watercress. Dr. Brusch performed eight years of clinical research on the “new” oral form of essiac. He even dosed himself with it, when he fell ill with cancer. Brusch later confidently made the claim that this eight herb essiac alone cured his cancer.

During several clinical trials held at the Brusch Medical Research Center, Brusch and Caisse tried essiac capsules, tablets, and tinctures, among other methods. Over and over, they found that the method of administering treatment which resulted in the most potent and effective formula was to leave the herbs in the liquid after brewing, creating what we now call authentic Essiac Tea.
